Chief Jacqueline Luthcke started her career with the Ridgewood Police Department in 1996 as a patrol officer in the Patrol Services Bureau. While she was a Patrol Officer, she was assigned to the Community Policing Unit and Detective Bureaus for some time, and had oversight of the property-evidence function. In 2000, Chief Luthcke was appointed as the Department’s second Accreditation Manager.  Chief Luthcke successfully led her department through five re-accreditations and Manager, including being awarded as a Flagship Agency and a Meritorious award.

Chief Luthcke was promoted to Sergeant in 2005 and Lieutenant in 2008, while assigned as a Supervisory Officer of a Patrol Squad and simultaneously overseeing the accreditation process and performed various administrative functions.  Chief Luthcke was promoted to Captain in 2010 and was in charge of all patrol and administrative functions until she was, again promoted to Chief of Police in July, 2016. 

Chief Luthcke is the past President of the New Jersey Public Safety Accreditation Coalition and was given the Distinguished Leadership Award by the Coalition.  Chief Luthcke has been a CALEA Assessor since 2004, and is a Team Leader within the New Jersey program.  Jacqueline holds a BA Degree in Sociology/Criminology from Ohio University where she graduated with honors. She is a graduate of the West Point Command and Leadership course run by the New Jersey State Association Chief’s of Police where she graduated top in class and received the Chief Harry Wilde Academic Achievement Award.

Chief Luthcke is actively involved in many of the community organizations such as the Community Relations Advisory Board, the Interfaith Ministry and the Community Alliance.  Chief Luthcke also hold the honor of being promoted as Ridgewood Police Department’s first female Chief of Police.  Chief Luthcke is only the second female Chief in the County of Bergen, being promoted only months after her friend and colleague Chief Cathy Madalone of Bergenfield Police Department.
