  The Ridgewood Police records room is located on the second floor of Village hall opposite the Police Desk.  Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:15pm. With late hours thursdays open until 8:30pm.   In most cases police reports are available the following business day after the report ha been filed.  There is a cost for all reports according to the type of report and length. In accordance with the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) persons requesting a copy of any records must complete a records request form, which is available at the records window or by clicking HERE or the link at the bottom of this page.

 

FINGERPRINTING SERVICES

 

Fingerprinting services are available Tuesday- Friday 7:00 am to 11:30 am, (No Holidays). There is a $20 fee for this service. For further information please call the records bureau at 201-251-4531

 

 

NEW JERSEY FIREARMS PURCHASER IDENTIFICATION CARD

 

 

 

An application for a New Jersey Firearm ID card (form S.T.S. 033) can be picked up from the records bureau along with the Consent For Mental Health Records Search from (S.P.66)

 

Applications are to be filled out and returned to the Records Bureau along with;

valid New Jersey Drivers Licenses 

$5 in cash or personal check made out to the Village of Ridgewood.

Mental Health form (part one) (S.P.66) 

 

The signature on the application is to be witnessed by the Ridgewood Police.  Applicants will be supplied with Identog (Morpho Trust USA)  universal fingerprint form. Please follow instructions on the card carefully. 

 

 Applicants are not to use family members as references and must supply complete addresses.

The applicants name must match the name on the NJ Drivers License 

 

 

 

Applications are accepted Monday through Friday 7:00 am until 11:30 am (No Holidays)

 

 

 

PERMIT TO PURCHASE A HANDGUN

 

 

 

All Applicants are subject to a criminal history check

 

Applicant must be 21 years of age and complete form (S.T.S 033).

 

Mental health form (S.P.66) (part One) is to be completed and a signature witnessed by the Ridgewood Police Department. 

 

Applicant will be supplied instructions for online record check (form212A)

A New Jersey Firearms Identification card is required and must be presented and copied.

 

A New Jersey Drivers License is required for identification.

 

There is a $2 fee for each permit requested. 

One permit only to be used in a 30 day period

 

 

Applications accepted Monday through Friday 7:00 am until 11:30 am. 

 

 

 

DUPLICATE FIREARMS IDENTIFICATION CARD

 

 

 

An application for a duplicate purchaser identification card is to be filled out by the applicant and returned to the Records Bureau along with the following:

 

 

Mental Health form (S.P. 66) (part One Completed)  Signature to be witnessed by the Ridgewood Police.

 

Valid New Jersey Drivers License

 

Valid NJ Firearms Identification card

 

$5 cash or check made payable to the Village of Ridgewood

 

If an applicant does not have their firearms identification card, fingerprints must be submitted.  Applicants will be supplied with a SAGE Morphotrak Universal fingerprint form.

 Applicant will be supplied instructions for on line form 212A

BARTENDER APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

 

New Applicant

 

Application may me picked up at the Records Bureau Monday –Friday 8:30 am to 4:15 p.m.

 

Application must be completely filled out and signed by a notary.

 

Once the application is completed, call the Ridgewood Police Department Detective Bureau at 201-251-4537 and leave a detailed message, explaining you need to make an appointment for a bartender’s license, for the next available detective. The assigned detective will call you back and make an appointment for you to be fingerprinted and to start processing the application. 

 

Bring the completed application and two passport-sized pictures with you to your appointment with the detective bureau.

 

Processing of the application will take 2-4 weeks. The records bureau will contact you once the processing is complete and your license is ready.

 

After being informed the license is ready, bring $25 fee to the Records Bureau to pick up your bartenders license.

 

Renewal Application

 

Application may be picked up from the Records Bureau.

 

Application must be completely filled out (No notary required for renewal)

 

Once the application is completed, call the Ridgewood Police Department Detective Bureau at 201-251-4537 and leave a detailed message, explaining you need to make an appointment for a bartender’s license, for the next available detective. The assigned detective will call you back and make an appointment for you to be fingerprinted and to start processing the application.
